At age 27, Gilbert already has an impressive list of industry accolades. Most recently he was a nominee for New Artist of the Year at the 2012 Academy of Country Music Awards, where he made his national television debut performing his #1 hit, “Country Must Be Country Wide.” He has also achieved two #1 hits as a songwriter for Jason Aldean, “My Kinda Party” and “Dirt Road Anthem,” both co-written with Colt Ford.
Gilbert’s sophomore project, HALFWAY TO HEAVEN, debuted at #2 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart in September 2011. Collectively, the standard and deluxe versions of the album already have sold over 500,000 albums. The album's first single, “Country Must Be Country Wide,” reached #1 on country radio and was certified gold by the RIAA. The deluxe edition includes videos for popular hits, “Country Must Be Country Wide,” as well as “Kick It In The Sticks,” both available online.
Gilbert was born and raised in the small town of Jefferson, GA, just outside of Athens. He credits his upbringing and small town influence for helping cultivate his unique sound – a combination of southern country rock with personal testimony of heartache, trials, triumph, and success. After five years on the road, he attracted a strong underground band of believers who share his passion for life and music, ultimately arriving in Nashville, TN where he signed with Warner/Chappell Publishing. His debut album, “Modern Day Prodigal Son,” was released in 2009.
